I am not having good luck on my quest for a durable mechanical can opener. the first one came from walmart for 10.00, made in china. Was not the least expensive and was not the most expensive. Kind of a middle of the road can opener. it lasted 3 weeks. the second one I bought, I ordered on line and it was 18.00 made in the USA. It lasted 6 weeks. I then bought a cheep one made in india for 6.00 at the dollar general store. It lasted 8 weeks. They just don't make stuff to last anymore. they want us to keep spending money. I keep going back to my P-38 that I got in the late 70's with my first C-ration. It still works ok, it's just getting harder to use because my hands are aging faster than my mind. So far I have spent over 35.00 on manual can openers in the last 6 months.
I am going to start looking in antique stores for an old school manual can opener that was made to last for my next one.
