Bug Out Bags. BOB for short. Here are some thoughts. What do you all suggest?
1. Before Beginning, you need proper boots/clothing. Something often not talked about. Broken in, tested footwear,
merino wool socks, hiking pants, wicking shirt, glasses, headgear, gloves, jacket. For all seasons/weather.
That's a lot of doing right there! Try the thrift stores for some things, but buy RELIABLE GEAR.
2. You need a place to Bug Out too. Map, compass, alternate routes. Every family member needs this in the BOB
and Brain. "In an emergency, meet at Aunt Mays, taking this way." Do not share Bug Out info with others!
The Bug Out location must have provisions, medicine, first aid, and another hidden Bug Out location known only
to a few very trusted people. You can dig and bury caches of provisions along the way. "Geostash".
"Fire, Food, Water, Shelter, Oxygen, Security, Health, Awareness."
3. Leadership/hierarchy: Needed before you all bug out. Similar to a Military OP. A Bug Out Plan/Emergency Plan
is essential. Make one. Practice it. Have fun doing it. Learn. Teach skills. Know each other's jobs.
4. Secrecy is Primary. "Loose Lips Sink Ships". Learn OPSEC and Situational Awareness. Buy equipment to do this.
Coms/earbuds, weather radio, monocular, night-vision, weapons. Note: This is needed for any emergency, weather
event, natural disaster, fire, or anything else. "A Wise Man Prepares".
5. These and other things are Before you get a BOB. LOL. When picking a BOB, it must be Quality. A ripped bag
is a disaster. Practice with the BOB regularly. Hike regularly. Assume you are walking. Lose weight, get in shape,
stretch, hike, camp, have FUN! Preparing YOUR Body is #1. Preparing your Mind is #2. Read up much/youtube
about survival mindset, preparedness, bushcraft.

6. Is your BOB for 24 hours? 72? Week? Stash waiting for you? Distance in Disaster? Weight in pack? Enough for all? Accidents?
Much learning is needed for the hundreds of scenarios. ie. Don't add members to the group last minute. Why? You tell me.....
What food is needed in the BOB? Water? Purifiers? Shelter? Light? Weapons/knives/firestarter? Navigation? FA/Coms? etc. You tell me.....
